Since the resurrection of Great Northern Wine just three years ago I have tried to allow the list of wines to evolve naturally into a mix of well known favourites and some eclectic offerings from small, enthusiastic and passionate growers. From this we have amassed a broad range of nearly 700 wines from around the world.

Particularly strong collections from Spain, with the likes of our own Rioja, Solar de Ayala, and other great names from the country that I personally think produce some of the best value wines on the market. Artardi, La Rioja Alta, Remelluri, Pagos les Cappelanes, Vega Sicilia, Termanthia, Numanthia and the value packed wines from Javier Asensio in Navarra, which we list under the Azcunaga label.

Within the French, Italian and Portuguese sections it is also possible to find some real gems, too many to mention but if you come and have a browse in the shop I am sure there is something here to suit your taste and wallet. Nicholas Potel in Burgundy is a must try, as are the wines from Inama and Braida in Italy, the still and fortified wines from Dirk Niepoort, Quinta Do Valle Meao and the stunning wines and ports produced at Quinta Do Portal in the Douro.

New Zealand looks interesting with classic Marlborough Sauvignons from Mud House, Fairhall Downs and Brent Marris’ new addition, The Ned. Fabulous Pinot Noir’s like Carrick, Westbrook and Schubert and great fillers like Alpha Domus, TW, Lowburn Ferry (Jancis Robinson says “definitely one to watch”), Ra Nui, Peacock Ridge and Rippon Vineyard.

We felt it time to revamp the Australian section and have hunted out a few stunning wines that you wouldn’t necessarily find everywhere else. The rising star of the Antipodean’s wine trade, Ben Glaetzer, features with his stunning range and the exceptional Western Australian range from Harewood Estate appear for the first time. I am also delighted to be working with a lot of boutique Aussie wineries, whose winemakers are all stars in their own right, some lesser names, but defiantly not lesser wines. O’Shea & Murphy, Gods Hill, Suckfizzle and Wayne Thomas are ones to look out for.

As well as the wines and producers mentioned above we feature some great products from other countries such as South Africa, Chile, Argentina, Uruguay, Germany, Austria, Greece and Lebanon. Also in stock is a selection of spirits, Whisky’s, Gin’s, Vodka’s, Brandy’s, Armagnac and Calvados; A small but quality driven range of Sherries, Madeira, Liquors and fruit juices are also available.
