10. Coltsgate Hill Chapel

This former Wesleyan Methodist Chapel was erected in 1861, replacing an earlier building in which John Wesley preached in 1780. John Wesley was one of the greatest evangelists in history. A preacher of great power and an organiser of genius, he founded Methodism. Worship ended here in 1963 when the chapel merged with Allhallowgate Methodist Church. The derelict building was restored in 1997 by Lishman, Sidwell, Campbell & Price.
