Fresh food, affordable art, individual crafts and gifts, glittering jewellery, exclusive fashions and fascinating accessories, toys and kitchenware, also financial, internet and advertising services. Ripon’s independent traders bring choice, diversity and personal service to the city – things perhaps in short supply in the uniformity of big chain stores. With individual, helpful advice and a tradition of looking after customers, Ripon’s traders will bring a new dimension to your visit.

Who & what is RITA?

RITA is a group of highly motivated forward-thinking businesses within Ripon, both new and established, who have grouped together to promote Ripon as a shopping destination for tourists and locals alike. They have been instrumental in organising the free parking initiative that will be running in Ripon while the West of the Market Place development takes place. Meet RITA (pdf)

RITA Events:

RITA organise many events throughout the year in Ripon, several of which help local charities raise money and advertise themselves to a wider audience. The first of these events was “Independents Day Expo” held on the 7th July 2007 this was a great success. It enabled local businesses to showcase themselves and their services. An event was held on the Market Square between on the 31st October for All Hallows Eve. There were stalls selling cinder toffee and toffee apples. Apple bobbing, pumpkin carving and a fancy dress competition. Entertainment from the Red Triangle theatre group and much more. All Hallows Eve information

Twelve Days of Christmas aims to bring 6 weeks of great Christmas fun and entertainment to Ripon based around a Twelve Days of Christmas theme. More information can be found in the news section
