Mrs Slocombe Helps RITA With St Wilfrid's Day Float
Monday 30 July
Mrs Slocombe from the television series 'Are You Being Served?' is taking her place in Ripon's St Wilfrid's Procession as part of the float organised by Ripon Independent Traders Association.
RITA has taken the 'Are You Being Served' theme as the appropriate subject of their float which will have RITA members and friends dressed as characters from the hit series, which was set in a department store.
The part of Mrs Elizabeth Jennifer Rachel Yiddell Abergavenny Slocombe is being taken by Helen Tabor, who gave a hand at the Philip Hall department store in the city to get into character, offering over-sized underwear to the customers.
Anna Arcidiacono of RITA says, 'RITA is a hundred percent behind the revitalised St Wilfrid's Procession, and what better subject for our own float than one of the best known stores on television? We are delighted that Helen is getting into her part so well. Look out for other characters - and some well-known local faces in other guises - on the 'Are You Being Served?' float on 4 August.'
