RITA Is Proud To Support The Great North Art Show

Thursday 16 August

RITA (Ripon Independent Traders Association) is proud to support the Great North Art Show as "Art is taking over the City". For the first year Satellite Exhibitions are being held in over 12 independent businesses throughout Ripon.

Local galleries, restaurants and retail outlets are more than happy to free up their wall space to help launch Ripon as a major Art Centre for the North. The aim of the exhibition is to promote the work of invited professional artists from Yorkshire and the North. All works displayed are for sale. Proceeds go to the 'Ripon Cathedral Development Campaign’

The Show gets underway with a “Be an Artist for a day” competition which is being held on the Market Square on Saturday 25 August, organised by the Great North Art Show. The competition is open to all ages of children and art events such as this have proved to be a great success. The day has been designed to ensure that there will be something for all the family and will also feature buskers and story-tellers.

Ripon’s Independent Traders have been asked to provide a unique and exciting backdrop to this event and are once again setting out their stalls on the city’s Market Square. RITA’s members include many of the city’s more individual businesses, including cafés and restaurants, accessories and clothes shops, galleries, electrical suppliers and office equipment suppliers.

RITA member Mauro Arcidiacono, of Cathedral Financial Planning, says, "The day promises to be a great showcase for Ripon as a whole, the children’s competition and the Independent Business Expo together help to give the city its individuality, and we are keen to make the opening of the Great North Art Show one to remember. "
