Hornblowers Big Band Ball

The date for the event has been set for Saturday 14th March 2009

The Ripon Spa Hotel will once again be the venue for the next Big Band Ball. It is hoped that the Norths premier big band, ' The Manhattan Sound' with guest singers will be there to entertain us at the 'Black Tie' Dinner event. A fund raising auction in support of local charities will be held during a break in the evening programme. Numbers will be limited to 120 (12 tables of 10 people at each) further details regarding menu and tickets etc will be announced shortly.

  • 1Please can we have more music from the band and less speeches? And more well-known numbers and faster-paced ones which are better for dancing too next year please?
  • 2I seem to remember that last year there was a four minute welcome and thank you speech by the Hornblower, who I understand had worked on the event for four months, plus a three minute tribute by the Mayor. Seven minutes out of a four and a half hour programme !!! I will ask George to get his act together and improve his performance.
