Booths In Ripon Set To Open

The new Ripon Booths supermarket is set to open at 10am on Thursday 25th June which will mark the end of the long awaited improvement scheme to the West of the Marketplace.

The West of the Market place development has been ongoing for the last few years in Ripon and has caused many problems and issues on the way, but on Thursday when Booths finally opens it will hopefully mark the start of the recovery for Ripon.

The new Booths store will be 18,000sq ft and is two minutes walk from the market place through the various access routes or via Blossomgate and Marshall Way. It will include a deli counter, olive bar, fresh meat counter, fish counter, a hot food counter as well as a cafe.

Booths is a quality retailer and it is hoped that people from the surrounding areas will be attracted back into Ripon and once they have done their shopping at Booths would spend some time in the local shops too.

There is one issue that may still hamper people shopping at Booths and it is again parking. The current Booths carpark is quite small and congested even before Booths opens. The walls that have been erected in between the parking bays seem to make the car park feel smaller and narrow. They also need to get a clear directional system in place as currently it can end up blocked if cars meet on the corners. It is yet to be seen if there will be plenty of available parking for Booths customers as the carpark is already well used by general Ripon shoppers.
