An Assortment Of Goodies At Quality Street

If you love finding a bargain and need some furniture or decoration goods for your house, take a browse round Quality Street soon.

The new owners Colin and Dale have been selling used furniture at the North Street premises since January and specialise in clean, pre-owned household furniture and electrical items, from dining sets to wardrobes to sofas, and everything in between - and don’t forget those finishing touches such as framed pictures, vases and ornaments. Such a service in the centre of Ripon has been welcomed by many, especially those setting up their first homes or people new to the area.

“We always try to have a wide range of items in the shop for people to see, but we are happy to search for something specific for a customer too, at no obligation,” says Colin, “for instance, if you are expecting guests and need extra chairs or a sofa bed, or have a particular style or colour of item in mind that you’ve been looking for, we will search for suitable items on your behalf when we attend the auctions and sales.”

Quality Street will also buy selected furniture from the public, and can deliver your purchased goods in the local area for a small fee.

“We offer a holding facility, so if there’s something you really like but you are in the middle of your other shopping, we will hold it for you for seven days if you leave a deposit,” continues Colin, “then you can come and pay the rest and collect at your convenience, so you don’t need to worry about your item being sold to another customer!”

Alongside the used furniture business, Colin and Dale have recently expanded into sales and supply of new baby equipment, such as prams, strollers, push chairs, cots, high chairs, safety gates and car seats. One thing to make clear though - none of this is second hand and is either brand new or reconditioned by the manufacturer. Items are available to buy from the shop, or to order from manufacturer’s catalogues (deposit required) which are usually delivered within 24 hours.

“Being a parent myself, I know how important it is to make sure your baby has the best, and only the best. No one would want anything else for their own children,” Colin emphasized, “as safety is the most important issue with baby equipment, we stock and supply new goods that pass the stringent British rules and regulations. We do occasionally have items that have been reconditioned by the manufacturer, or seconds.”

Taking car seats as an example, you should never risk your child’s safety by buying a second hand or used car seat, or one that appears new but you don’t know its history. Sometimes, what seems like a car boot sale bargain could be a very risky decision if the car seat has been previously damaged or involved in an accident - it may well have faults that aren’t visible to you, but could prove dangerous for your baby if it doesn’t offer full protection.

Quality Street adheres to the rules of the Baby Products Association, which works in conjunction with the British Standard Institution to spread the message that second hand baby equipment is just not safe and should never be considered.
