Foods From The Farm At The Forge

Another new business is opening in early May at Ripon’s historic Canal Basin just off Bondgate Green.

The Forge is a farm shop and sandwich bar that will offer customers a tasty choice of freshly-made sandwiches and local farm produce in a convenient location with easy parking and within 5 minutes walk from the town centre. It would be a lovely place to spend a leisurely lunch break in the summer.

Homemade will be the flavour of the day, every day, at The Forge, as owners Lynne, Judith and Fiona will be making a range of delicious foods for customers to take away and enjoy, such as cakes, biscuits and traybakes, fresh sandwiches, soups and jacket potatoes with freshly made fillings. The Forge will be opening through the week from 9am to 5.30pm and also on weekends from 10am to 2pm, and if you’d enjoy a leisurely brunch of warm home cooked croissants and pain de chocolat, head down the Canal Wharf at the weekend to pick up some of their French specialities, prepared just for them by a French chef.

As well as fresh food, they will be stocking locally made farm preserves and chutneys; and customers can order a full range of organic produce from the Snape organic farm shop ‘Green Eggs and Jam’, which will be delivered into The Forge twice a week. They will have real creamy ice creams from Birchfield Farm near Summerbridge, and a full range of locally-sourced meat and poultry. They will be stocking a wide choice of award-winning Masham sausages, and the famous Burtree Farm sticky toffee puddings. Carrick's of Snape, who have a fantastic reputation for providing only the freshest and best produce, will be supplying all their fruit and vegetables as well as smoked and fresh fish.

Judith and Fiona have farming backgrounds and are dedicated to supporting local food suppliers, and understand consumers’ concerns about the quality and source of the food we eat today, and aim to make The Forge a friendly shop where all customers will be greeted with a smile and receive excellent service. All are invited to the Canal Wharf Open Day on May 26th, to try some tasty samples, have a browse around the new farm shop, enjoy the lovely scenery and meet the team from The Forge.
