Jonathan's Long Distance Walks In Scotland
Jonathan (46) is one of our colleagues at Jennyruth Workshops. He has Down’s Syndrome. Each Autumn he does a long distance walk in Scotland as a challenge to himself and to raise money for the workshops. His walks to date include:-
The West Highland Way from Glasgow to Fort William a distance of about 101 miles in 2007 The Great Glen Way from Fort William to Inverness about 75 miles in 2008 and The Rob Roy Way from Drymen to Pitlochry about 92 miles in 2009
Although not a Scot, Jonathan grew up in Scotland. He was at school in Aberdeen and his home was on the Isle of Skye. He loves everything Scottish and would like to be a Scot. Unfortunately he was born in Leeds and so must settle for being a Yorkshireman!
In September he plans to walk the Cateran Trail in the glens and hills of Angus and Perthshire. The trail itself is about 65 miles and he intends to add a little to this by walking on the river Ericht path, to make the complete walk around 75 miles.
There is a short video on You Tube of Jonathan on his walks which you might like to watch, the URL is http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XmGSvj7s3BM

A note from Jonathan....... I love walking with my dad in the mountains and glens of Scotland. I hope you like my video and it would be great if you could sponsor me to help Jennyruth Workshops. We need extra money to pay all our bills. I have a walk in mind for 2011 but if you would like to challenge me by suggesting a walk, I’ll try to do it. Thank you, Jonathan
