Blood Donation Session in Ripon

This January & February we have an urgent appeal for donors to come forward and help us maintain healthy blood stocks, all blood types are needed. A local Blood Donation session is taking place on:

FREE Get Set for Volunteering Course

This is a great FREE course run by the Volunteer Centre in Harrogate for anyone thinking about volunteering

Would you like to get into volunteering but don’t know where to start?

Perhaps your confidence has taken a knock or you feel you need a little support to get up and running? Harrogate and Ripon’s Volunteer Centre is running a FREE short course to help you get started.

Who is it for? Anyone interested in volunteering but would to know more about what’s involved and the types of roles in the area.

What does it cover? This short six week course helps you to identify your skills, experience, and interests and explores what volunteering opportunities are available locally based on your needs. We take you through the basics on how to apply, training and support and you get to ask questions and find out more before deciding whether you wish to volunteer.

When is it? Our small, friendly group will meet once a week from 26th February at Community House, 46-50 East Parade, Harrogate, HG1 5RR

Take a close look at original workhouse records, find out more about using archives and hear from leading experts in both family research and workhouse history. Walk in the footsteps of previous inmates and enjoy a special guided tour of one of the best preserved Workhouse sites in the country.

This event brings together experts including Peter Higgenbotham, who is a familiar figure from TV shows such as Heir Hunters and Who Do You Think You Are? and Piers Dudgeon, a biographer who made the shocking discovery that author Barbara Taylor-Bradford’s grandmother had spent time in Ripon Workhouse.

Venue: The Workhouse Museum, Sharow View, Allhallowgate, Ripon HG4 1LE

Opening Times: Friday 27th February 9am - 9pm Saturday 28th February 10am - 5pm

Cost: £180 per person which include lunch and refreshments as well as a 3 course dinner on Friday night.
