Get Set for Volunteering FREE 6 week course

Would you like to get involved in volunteering but don’t know where to start?

Perhaps your confidence has taken a knock or you feel you need a little support to get up and running? Harrogate and Ripon’s Volunteer Centre is running a FREE short course to help you get started.

Who is it for? Anyone interested in volunteering but would to know more about what’s involved and the types of roles in the area. We particularly welcome people with physical disabilities or sensory impairments, both of which are underrepresented in volunteering.

What does it cover? This short six week course helps you to identify your skills, experience, and interests and explores what volunteering opportunities are available locally based on your needs. We take you through the basics on how to apply, training and support and you get to ask questions and find out more before deciding whether you wish to volunteer.

When is it? Our small, friendly group will meet once a week between 1.00-3.00pm from 11th June to 16th July at Harrogate Community House. How do I book my FREE place? Either phone Carol Gaiger in the Volunteer Centre on 01423 509004 or email her at volunteer@harcvs.org.uk. You can also book online at www.getsetjune2015.eventbrite.com/?aff=riponevent

Lobster and Steak festival

Lobster and Steak festival

Celebrating all that is great about native lobster and the best Yorkshire dry aged steaks that you can’t resist. See our great lobster and steak menu here. http://goo.gl/agQRIy The warmer waters of late spring herald the beginning of the lobster season. We have fantastic native lobsters all around the UK. Imported lobsters have an inferior flavour to our natives without that beautiful meaty sweetness that you should expect. We are proud to use the best scottish lobsters.

Our fantastic link up with Farmison the online butcher means that our steaks are all fantastic quality. Sourced from Yorkshire and dry aged in the traditional method for 32 days

The lobster and steak festival runs for 10 days from the 17th till the 27th June so there is plenty of opportunity to book a table.

The special menu runs along side our a la carte and offers three starters and three main courses of lobster and steak including our famous surf ‘n’ turf combo. Choose just a starter or a main and if you fancy a fantastic dessert you have to try our Yorkshire strawberries.

Jurassic Adventure Golf

Jurassic Adventure Golf

Our new Jurassic Adventure Golf course is scheduled to open at May Half Term 2015. New for 2015 - join us for the ultimate golfing adventure at Lightwater Valley*. Dinosaurs and man, two species separated by sixty-five million years of evolution, have suddenly been thrown back into the mix together. Fierce Raptors, giant Triceratops and the mighty T-Rex all roam this hostile section of the theme park and golfing with dinosaurs has never been so much fun. With just a club and a small white ball for protection, swap your birdies for Pterodactyls and rise to the challenge of making Jurassic pars as you navigate your way through 18 holes of dense North Yorkshire undergrowth and water hazards inhabited by terrifying predators (the dinosaurs, not your playing partners). Whether you happen to be an expert golfer or have never held a putter before, try not to be distracted by the Stegosaurus in the crowd as months of gloating could be yours by sinking that winning putt on the 18th green. *An additional charge applies to play our new Jurassic Adventure Golf Course. This activity is not included with your theme park admission ticket. Lightwater Valley Theme Park, North Stainley, Ripon, North Yorkshire. HG4 3HT.
