Quiznight at Jennyruth Workshops
Jennyruth Workshops are organising another QUIZ NIGHT. Last years quiz was a fun evening held in the workshops. Lots of people said they wanted to repeat it so here it is - in the workshops at Red House Farm on Thursday, 24th July, 7.30pm. Come with teams of six if you want to be in a group or we will arrange teams of six when you arrive. Many of our learning disabled colleagues will take part, and don't be fooled they have vast knowledge in some subjects!! Tickets £5 to include a light summer supper (I think someone mentioned strawberries). Eco-Dating
Eco-dating is back and this time it’s bigger and better than ever! BTCV York are running the summer Eco-dating event – speed-dating with a difference – for anyone who wants to meet like-minded environmental people.
The world’s first Eco-dating hedge planting event held over Valentines weekend was a great success and at least one couple (and the trees) are still going strong!
The second Eco-Dating event is to take place along part of York’s cycle path network improving its habitat corridors over the weekend of 26th and 27th July 2008.
The event is aimed at local single people; there will be four separate events based on different age brackets spread over the whole weekend. Participants have a short introduction on how to use the tools and equipment for the environmental project and will then be divided up into pairs. They will then have ten minutes with each other giving them enough time to chat to their date whilst helping the environment. After ten minutes a bell rings they will move on to meet another date.

Copt Hewick Village Fete
Venue: Copt Hewick Village Hall and Green.
A wide range of attractions for all the family including kids races and games including a vegetable monster on a plate competition (bring your own entry on the day), steam engine, treasure hunt, face painting, art exhibition, tug of war, a wide range of produce stalls including Jenny Ruth workshops, bouncy castle and balloon race.

LockwoodsPhotography Exhibition
This exhibition by Andrew Bayles showcases stunning photography from exotic locations around the world such as New Zealand, Laos, Cambodia, China, San Francisco, Hong Kong...and Blackpool! The exhibition also includes specially commissioned pictures of the Ripon area. Local photographer Andrew Bayles has won the Guardian Travel Photo of the Month and been featured in European and US publications.
Matthew Lockwood said, “This exhibition builds on our award by The Times as No.1 Family Run Restaurant in the UK. We are aiming to provide a great all round experience with our menu, surroundings, service and programme of events.”
Andrew trained as a graphic designer in Leeds. Last year he got married in Las Vegas and set out on a 10 month trip around the world, during which many of the photographs in the exhibition were taken. To avoid carrying a large professional camera, Andrew used a tiny Fuji Finepix Z3.
Andrew Bayles said, “The key to taking good pictures is the same as the key to good food. Keep it simple, use quality ingredients, and concentrate on presentation. Follow these rules and you can take good pictures with pretty much any camera.”
Lockwoods is open all day Tuesday to Saturday serving breakfast,lunch, coffee, cocktails beers and wines, and an exciting evening dinner menu.

Hornseys' Summer Exhibition of Contemporary Art, Jewellery, Textiles and Ceramics
Featuring new paintings by Winifred Hodge, Lesley Coates Jones, Jo Dixon and Ed Kluz, original prints by Peter Wray, artists' textiles, fine jewellery and ceramics by members of the Northern Potters Association.
