Lower Ure Conservation Trust

LUCT is a registered charity which owns and manages Nosterfield Local Nature Reserve near West Tanfield. The premier bird watching site in North Yorkshire, attracting 5-10,000 visitors a year, many of whom use the local facilities, i.e. pubs, shops etc.
Three unique, architect-designed bird hides from which to view the site - total disabled access to two of these. Interpretation display in Main Hide explaining the historical iimportance of the area and how it has changed over the millennia.
The site also boasts a large range of butterfly species, gives a wonderful display of wild flowers in spring/summer (all naturally occurring and not introduced!) and dragonflies later in summer.
